Proceedings may be instituted in a Magistrates' Court against you if you do not complete and return this form by the due date. A Magistrates' Court may impose a penalty not exceeding $100.

The person to whom the notice is addressed has the option of explaining on the space provided on this form why they did not vote, or of paying the $50 fine for not voting. Voting at Council elections is compulsory for residents but not for absentee owners and absentee occupiers.
